Latest Changes in IELTS score for Canadian Immigration

Canada is very keen to welcome immigrants from all over the world. Canadian government also knows about the difficulties of future applicants which they are facing due to a high IELTS band requirement for additional points of Canadian Immigration.

Due to these difficulties faced by the majority of the people over the world, Canadian government has very kindly reduced the IELTS score requirement for Canadian Immigration Points. CIC has now decrease the IELTS band requirement criteria for Canada Skilled worker Immigration points.

Congratulations to all!!!

Canada has reduced minimum IELTS score requirement for 4 points of Immigration

As CIC has decreased the minimum IELTS band score from 7 band to 6.5 band to obtain four points for Immigrate to Canada in Skilled Worker Category. Now you can obtain 4 points for one module of IELTS if you score 6.5 band as compared to old system which required at lease 7 Band in IELTS to obtain four points in a specific module of IELTS. Only listening module gained the IELST score instead of reduction. i.e. 7.5, which was 7 previously.
Now you can get 16 points for immigration by having the following minimum band in IELTS
Writing: 6.5 Band
Reading: 6.5 Band
Speaking: 6.5 Band
Listening: 7.5 Band

Following table give the full details:
Enjoy your Canadian Immigration.

One thing to remember that that the correct ancronym of International Language Testing System is IELTS but sometimes people mispell it ielets, ilts, iltes, ilets, elts, eilts, iltis or ielst. So please remember the correct acncronym i.e. IELTS

  21. Hi Saba, i have apply for permenant visa to immegration to Canada. my question is: i got my IELTS certification on Dec 2007 and my application still in process. Do i need to apply for IELTS test again if my application stayed in Process after Dec 2009 since (as i know), IELTS certification expired within 2 years. Thanks in Advance

  22. Hi Anonymous,
    Yes, of course, you have to apply for IELTS test again after its expiry.
    From which CHC you have applied for Immigration?

  23. Hi,
    My question is not related to IELTS. It is related to Processing centre.
    I am UAE resident and Pakistani National. I applied for canadian PR, got my file # and document requirement letter. However, my problem is that after I will submit all my documents I may have to leave UAE. My question is that:

    1- If my application is processed further, and a medical test is required, Can I take that test in my home country (from Approved doctors/hospitals)

    2- If i am given PR, would i be personally required to visit Abu Dhabi Canadian High commission or the documents would be sent to me only and i can fly to canada?

    3- If because of any reason, I send the required docs after the deadline...What impact can it have on my profile.... i am asking this coz of IELTS score.. If i couldn't get enough marks in IELTS, i would have to re-take the test and it may delay sending IELTS test scores.

    My email ID is swattoo@hotamil.com

  24. Hi,
    I have the following questions:

    I am a UAE resident & Pakistani National. I applied for canadian PR, got my file # & document requirement letter. I'll be sending all the required docs within a months time hopefully. My problem is that I may go back to my home country after that. so my question is

    1- If my application is processed further & medical test result is required, can i take that test in Pakistan with an approved doctor/hospital? Or only a UAE medical test report would work?

    2- If I am offered PR, would I be required to pesonally visit Canadian high Commission in Abu Dhabi for other formalities or I would only get some papers by post and I can fly to Canada?

    3- Wht if i get less marks in IELTS than required and have to take IELTS again? In that case i'll send the documents late (After the deadline) would that effect the application.. If yes,In what way?

  25. Dear Sherie,
    1. You can take medical test in your home country.
    2. Contact CHC Dubai for your second question.
    3. Send all documents including current IELTS score in time. You may add a request letter that you are improving your IELTS score and will provide to them later on.

  26. Dear Sherie,
    2. There is an option that CHC will send you your documents by post. Please contact your CHC in order to get accurate information.

  99. Dear Sir :

    L = 7.5
    S = 7
    R = 6.5
    W = 6.5

    my score is 16 ponts on the new band , and 12 points on the old band.

    Do i follow the new band score or the old band score?

    This is a very critical issue because if i score 16 according to the new band , my total will be 67 , and if i score 12 points on the old band my total will be 63 (ineligible)!!

    I got a file number BEFORE feb 2008,particularly on november 2007 But I took my IELTS exam on the 27th of june 2009!!

    Do i fall under the old band scoring system since i got a file number on NOV 2007?
    OR
    Do i fall under the new band scoring system , since i took my IELTS test on JUNE 2009?

    Opinions i read on here are very contradicting about this issue.

  118. Dear All,

    I applied for immigration to Canada in July 2007 and I'd taken my IELTS test two weeks before I sent the application. Is the IELTS result still valid for CIC?!

    Thanks
    David

    ReplyDelete
  119. David CHC recently asked for an updated documents included IELTS and then I think NO your IELTS is not valid any more, bcz it expires after one year. You can read this information on their website as well. If you sent your IELTS result along with your immigration application then it would be valid only

    My name is Abdallah

    L = 7.5
    S = 7
    R = 6.5
    W = 6.5

    my score is 16 ponts on the new band , and 12 points on the old band.

    You will get the points as per criteria of the instance of your immigration i.e. Old band score system
